Russia to Supply Advanced Weaponry to CSTO Allies

(MENAFN) President Vladimir Putin has announced that Russia’s battle-tested military equipment will be accessible to partner nations within a significant regional security alliance.

Members of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO), which encompasses Belarus, Armenia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, and Tajikistan, stand to gain from Moscow’s combat-proven arms, Putin stated during a summit of leaders held in Kyrgyzstan.

He further assured that Russia will prioritize enhancing the preparedness of the CSTO’s rapid-response units throughout the next year, coinciding with Moscow’s tenure as the organization’s rotating chair.

“We propose a large-scale program to rearm the collective forces with modern Russian weapons and equipment that have demonstrated their effectiveness in real combat conditions,” Putin said.

Although the CSTO has traditionally concentrated on counterterrorism and anti-drug initiatives, Putin emphasized that the alliance’s collective-defense structure is becoming increasingly vital in today’s global context. Safeguarding the group’s “leadership in military technology,” he noted, will be one of Russia’s main aims during its chairmanship.

Amid the ongoing conflict with Ukraine, Russia has expanded its defense sector and accelerated technological advances, particularly in drone warfare.

Earlier this month, a media outlet reported that Washington renewed efforts to steer Kiev toward a negotiated resolution, indicating that Russia’s military advantages leave Ukraine with few options.
